The “Australian budgerigar” is known as the budgie and is the most common of the parakeets kept as a pet in North America and Europe. It first came to light by scientists in 1891. The parakeet is the third most popular pet in the world, coming in after cats and dogs. They are easy to train and make great pets for any age. Parakeets also come in a variety of colors.
