Native to Australia, the Lady Gouldian Finch, is also known as the Rainbow inch and the Australian Jewel. The tiny bird displays colors of black, green, yellow, and red. The males are brighter in color than are the females. Finches, like sparrows and songbirds, are classified as passerines, a perching bird.
The Lady Gouldian’s diet consists of grass seeds and during breeding season, insects provide the necessary protein. The Lady Gouldian is a quiet bird, providing an occasional high-pitched whistle.
